Barcelona Photographs
Barcelona, Spain is located in northeastern Spain & enjoys a Mediterranean climate. This region known as Catalunya (Catalonia) has history that can be traced back to its Roman ruins of 1BC.
Morning light filters into this twisting Gothic alleyway located in the Ciutat Vella (Old City).
"La Catedral" was begun in 1298 over the remains of a Romansque church (1058) and is located in the Barri Gòthic (Gothic Quarter.)
L'Eixample (meaning "The Extension" in Catalan) still has its original wrought iron street lamps. This district extended the Old City and was laid out between 1860-1920.
